36 questionsHow NEET PG 2026 Scoring Works
NEET PG 2026 uses a 720-mark system across 180 questions in five sections — Group A through E, 36 questions each, 42 minutes per section. Each correct answer gives +4 marks. Each wrong answer gives −1 mark. Unattempted questions score 0.
The five-section locked format means once a section closes you cannot return to it. Section-level pacing matters more than overall pacing. Leaving a question blank is sometimes the right call — a wrong answer costs you 5 marks relative to leaving it blank: you lose the +4 you would have gained, plus the −1 penalty.
Track your score after every HAMMER weekly grand test and mock session. Small weekly improvements compound significantly over months of consistent preparation.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Every correct answer is +4, every wrong answer is −1, and unattempted questions score 0. The paper has 180 questions for a maximum of 720 marks. (Source: NBEMS Information Bulletin, July 2026.)
2026 moves to 180 questions and 720 maximum marks, replacing the old 200-question / 800-mark format. The +4 / −1 marking scheme stays the same.
No. Only wrong answers are penalised (−1). A skipped question scores 0, so guessing only helps if you can confidently eliminate some options first.
It applies the official +4 / −1 / 0 marking exactly. If your correct, wrong, and unattempted counts are right, the score is exact, with no estimation involved.
Each wrong answer costs 5 marks relative to leaving it blank (−1 instead of +4). Attempt a question only when you can rule out at least two options; blind guessing usually lowers your score.
INI-CET uses a different pattern and marking scheme, so this calculator is built specifically for NEET PG 2026.
